Description:
Flajas are enormous, bat-like avians with wingspans over ten feet and talons sharp enough to carve into stone. Their twisted skeletal frames are covered in sinewy, ashen-black skin with patches of patchy, sickly fur and glowing green boils. As creatures warped by prolonged exposure to RAD, Flajas are known for their piercing screeches, venomous bites, and toxic green droppings, which corrode armor and soil the terrain with lingering RAD energy.
They hang in clusters from the cavern ceilings of Terra, their bodies blending into the stalactites until disturbed—then all at once, the cave erupts with screeches and flapping shadows.
Behavior:
Screech Swarm: Startled Flajas will all begin shrieking together, causing disorientation and sometimes paralysis in those caught in the echo.
Toxic Dive: Their most dangerous attack is a nosedive into prey, latching on with talons while delivering a venomous bite laced with RAD-infected saliva.
Dropping Bombardment: When flying overhead, Flajas release bursts of toxic green feces that sizzle with active RAD, causing splash damage and lingering zone contamination.
Nocturnal Aggression: Even though caves lack sunlight, Flajas operate on RAD flux cycles. During high RAD surges, they become violently frenzied and more coordinated.
Physical Traits:
Wings: Membranous and translucent near the edges, stretched over visible bone and sinew. Veins pulse faintly with RAD light.
Mouth & Bite: Long snouts with retractable fangs that drip glowing green toxin. Their saliva contains both organic venom and RAD particulates.
Eyes: Bulbous and blind-looking, but highly reactive to vibration and heat.
Fur: Sparse tufts across their back and shoulders—most of which are matted, molted, or burned from RAD exposure.
Abilities & Combat Tips:
Echo Screech: Area-of-effect stun or accuracy reduction depending on proximity
Toxic Bite: Applies Poison status with a risk of RAD infection over time
RAD Droppings: Creates contaminated zones on the battlefield; causes splash damage and corrosion
Dark Dive: Initiates combat with a high-speed ambush from above if not pre-emptively detected
Weaknesses:
Light-Based Spells: Blinding magic or radiant effects disorient them
Sonic Feedback: Can be stunned by their own screech if reflected or mimicked
High Heat: Fire or volcanic environments discourage nesting
Illusions: Their sensory reliance makes them susceptible to Magic Magic or illusion-based misdirection
Environmental Notes:
Commonly found in the RAD-seeped cave systems of Jouven and Dormon
Nest around crystal outcroppings, often contaminating rare gem locations
RAD build-up from Flaja nests can attract other toxic fauna or spawn unstable crystals nearby
